Animation Style Development
A series of motion tests to help the development of "Le Charade". Not only on a mechanical or functional level, but also to help shape the animation style of the project. The director wanted a heightened, Tex Avery inspired, hyper exaggerated sensibility to the movement similar to Loony Tunes and some UPA animations. I was tasked with seeing how this style translated into stop-motion animation.
Other Animations
An in-depth test I did to try out body mechanics, object interaction, and SCAD's first ball and socket puppet. We only used wire puppets for Le-Charade, so I was really grateful to get an opportunity to animate with a ball and socket.
Corgi animation I did winter 2023 to test out naturalistic quadrupedal animation as well as a gradual increase in emotional energy. The puppet is foam casted in a three part mold.
Christmas animation I did with a puppet made from an old mold originally created for the film "Elliot". I felted the puppet to look like my little brother who was the perfect age to do live action reference for the shot (seen below). I really wanted to capture the energy of an actual child in the performance.
I animated this for my creatures and quadrupeds class and it was another wonderful opportunity to work with non-human creatures.
Downshoot I did with clay and paper, I wanted to channel a graphic 2D style and practice smear frames. A lot of the 2D fundementals I practiced in this would go on to greatly help me with charade
